The Genting site is a little way out of the centre, a stiff walk perhaps. It’s a proper TARDIS, this one, looking quite modest from the front but with loads of room and a large car park to the rear. It also has the main signage referring to “Genting Club” – surely some reference to casinos might help passers-by ?
First impressions weren’t overly encouraging, with the receptionist having a fan heater at her feet – possibly not a great reception design – but happily she was super friendly and got me signed up in no time.
You have a choice of left for the bar or right for the gaming to start off with, so I wandered over to an immaculate looking bar, to check out what was going on. Not too much was the answer – Tuesday afternoons generally don’t attract the crowds of course, but it gave me a good vantage point to survey the room. It’s a nicely put together casino, apparently due for a refurbishment soon, although you wouldn’t know it – perhaps they are planning to totally rejig the place. The carpet was a slightly disconcerting stripy number. I’m told horizontal stripes are supposed to be slimming, and I guess it works – I can’t say I thought the casino looked fat…

The poker area is right on the main floor, separated by some balustrading, and the slots were over in the corner, quite a cosy little spot to be honest. The kit was top notch, and even the electronic roulette was shiny Inspired Sabre terminals.
All things considered, this is a nice looking club with a friendly team – I suspect with now two competitors in town they’ll need to be at the top of their game to prosper.
